can anyone suggest a website that will list local painting and/or siding companies?

just type that question into google
Google is one option.
Question friends, neighbors, and drive around to job sites.
I am a general contractor, and to find sub-contractors in a field I am not familiar with, I question my fellow contractors.
I assume you are not in the construction field, so go to a new development, i.e. residential construction sites, find someone doing the work you want done, pull over and question for the supervisor and just tell him what you want. If he is not able question who he may recommend.
They may look off putting, but you will find, more often than not, they are very friendly.
