How do retail stores such as Wal Mart prevent shoplifting?

They have those stupid people stand at the exit and check your receipt.
Security cameras and security staff.
The alarms on merchandise that get taken off when you check out, if you don’t get it take off it puts off an alarm at the exit.
the retail stores can hire more people as security guards,
install surveillance cameras,
install alarm system on everything in the store,
up-date the store inventory
don’t let employees bring bags in the store
verify the costumers receipts with the # of items sold
i work there and they filled me in on everything i reckon
1) dressing room people to check clothes for items in them
2) receipt checkers at exit
3) metal strips for the detectors
4) undercover shoppers to monitor the floor
oh and p.s. those cameras shoplifters are worried of are doing exactly what they can only do. they instill dread. they dont really work
theres about 150-200 “cameras” in the store only ones that really monitor are they ones near the registers and entrance/exit and the stock rooms.
