How is the Business Journal “Book of Lists” important and useful in sales?

Well, the business journal reporters go out and make lists of the area’s manufacturers, airports, law firms, insurance companies, etc just about any business category you can reckon of. Then, people can use these for marketing purposes because it saves them the legwork of finding out all this info themselves. The contact names numbers, etc are right there for the picking, so they can phone them all at once, or send them all marketing info and this cuts down on time spent prospecting for new business which is the job of salespeople. That is how it is helpful.
Please realize that the people/companies listed in the Books of Lists probably receive constant calls from sales people just because they are listed.
Unless you can find a unique approach (or another way in), you’re likely to be viewed as “just another annoying salesperson”.
