How can we correct this? Do we have to build a new database all over again?

We have a very excellent business contact database at our company. But there seems to be a lot of duplicated records. How can we right this? Do we have to build a new database all over again?

Some databases have a feature to search for duplicates. But if your database does not have that feature, the simplest way to right this would be to just search for and eliminate the duplicates by hand.
You can sort the database files in ways that make it simpler to find, and then delete, the duplicate records. For example, sort by last name, first name and find all the dupes, then resort by address, last name, then again by company name, title, etc. It’s time consuming but simpler than starting the whole thing over.
What do you mean “we”?
We encountered the same problem with our databases as well. But, we successfully cleansed our records with the help of. They have a service called Jigsaw Clean that helps in consolidating the database and removing duplicate data. It’s been a very effective solution for us. You should try it too.
