I have the Pearl flip – its just a fantastic texting phone.

I agree except the flip, every other Bbrry is for mobile browsing & real buisness stuff. Not a practical phone for a kid.

  3. Me and my friend both have blackberry’s and we like them. We don’t really use them for organization we just have them because we like them and we do what we want so there you don’t have to arrange your calender to have a blackberry its not a requirment

I can answer your first qn…does it make sense non-biz ppl buying blackberry phones – answer is Certainly NO, and even for biz ppl, I would say no.

For the detailed question as to why ppl are opting for bberry phones, I can’t say why, but i can hazard a guess – probably because maybe it is considered “cool” to have a bberry, where you can check your emails on the go, organise calendar, and stuff like that. If someone gets that much “real” work on your internet email ID, why on earth aren’t they in serious employment ???

I’ve used a bberry for the last 2 yrs, and have found it to be a pain at times, and often intrusive. It has its benefits, though, in terms of the fact that you don’t need the internet or your office mail connection to check emails.

You’re right, it doesn’t make a lot of sense. It is simpler to communicate and/or access the internet from a Blackberry than a regular cell phone, but the iPhone is made specifically for those kinds of things… and more! Before the iPhone was readily available, the Blackberry was the best option for the techies who basically wanted a smaller version of a laptop to carry around. Nowadays, but, I’m not sure why a high-schooler or someone who doesn’t have many appointments to keep track of would opt for a Blackberry over an iPhone (or one of the many clones that are coming out now).

It’s just fashion, and they are simple to text on. A lot of people seem to spend their whole day texting, rather than walking down the street and talking to their friends in person, lol.

There are a lot of other much more fascinating smart phones out there, that have decent camera’s and can do things that are much more fun, but I’m not sure that many people are really tech-savvy and so they just reckon that’s the best one:)

Its crazy and I often wonder myself why people need this much for no reason. Then realizing that certain people need to have every new gadget to be the coolest .Sad that some rely on material things to make them feel better. My nephew is like this at 11 he has one, and a laptop but after 3 months cannot do anything more with these things then call and play games on the PC.But telling everyone that he posses these things seems to be the most vital thing to him. In his case its to look like he has more than he really does, knowing his dad will hold out on the bills he owes to get it for him.Screwy priorities and sad people trying to act superior .

I like mine, and don’t use it for business purposes.

The best thing about it is that I can watch live TV on it, well the 28 channels I have on mine anyway, no matter where I am.
