Jimmy questioned:

When I list the businesses I’ve worked for on my resume do I place the phone number of the company and my supervisor’s name? or do I place that info on my references? Also, should I list the company phone number or the direct number to my supervisor or should I place both numbers?

Don’t place them on the resume. Just the company name, your position there, and three or four of your most significant job duties.

But, the application for employment will probably question for the phone numbers of your previous employers and for your permission to contact them. Place the company’s phone number on the application if you can remember it. Even if your manager is no longer there, your new employer can still verify your employment at the ancient company through their Human Resources or Payroll Department.

    Hope this helps.

Do not list either of the phone numbers. And, do not give references on your resume, unless the job ad says you have to give it.

If, after the interview, the company want to hire you they would question you to fill out an application. In it, there may be fields asking for previous employer details, such as your supervisor name, his / her phone number, and the reason for leaving. Or, the company may call you and question for references.

Have you prepared a resume that addresses the needs of the employer?
